Hello & welcome fellow sailors,
The Cruising Yacht Club of Hamilton Island (CYCHI) would like to welcome you to our 2024/25 Twilight Sailing.
Our season starts on the first Wednesday in September and continues through to the end of March with
makeup races in April. Races are held every Wednesday from 5pm (weather permitting).
During our season the CYCHI holds the following events:
· Australia Day Race
· Golf Day
· Hamilton Island Regatta
· Other fundraising events and social events
In addition to the senior club, we have junior programs; Tackers 1 starting again, we have two new coaches
Frazer and Josh who will make sure these programs are designed and delivered by Australian Sailing standards. It is
important to us that we deliver these programs to bring our kids through the ranks in the sailing world and
hope that it follows through to adulthood.
This year we have a three year plan proposed to help the club grow and essentially in time secure a new club
house or community centre that we can use. We are taking small steps to reach our goals. Please see our Three
Year Plan for further details.
Safety is our number one priority, and it is the obligation of the skipper to ensure that all equipment is in order.
We have put together a Safety Folder for each vessel that will get you on to the water and into the twilight
racing action.
To assist we have put together a CYCHI Booklet which consist of:
· Sailing Rules
· Course maps (Full and Shorten Course)
· Safety Management Plan
· Incident Policy with Personal and Marine Incident report forms
· Cat 6 Audit form that needs to be completed by the skipper and the Safety Officer of the CYCHI.
The Cat 6 Audit form and the CYCHI checklist needs to be completed before your first race.

Our club nights are returning to the “Commodores Lounge” AKA the Marina Tavern.
We would like to thank HIE and the Marina Tavern management for this opportunity which will assist us promote our great club.

For the 2022/2023 sailing season we will be running a Shesails twilight series and also the normal twilight series.
Race Week
2022 saw the 36th edition of Hamilton Island Race Week return after a long two year wait for the event.
We were donated 6 x opti kids tackers boat from RQYS to help with our tackers program that we have on going with the kids that live on the island.
Hello Sailors,
For this sailing season we will be running a Shesails twilight series and also the normal twilight series. The Shesails series is to encourage females to take the helm during these races which will be an 7 race series and these races will be the first Wednesday of every month.
We have incorporated the SheSails season into the normal Twilight Series, so all points go towards twilight series along with the separate SheSails series. SheSails races will sail in all winds low or high.

Kids Discover Sailing Program
The Cruising Yacht Club of Hamilton Island is providing 5 different programs for sailors of all
ages.
Tackers intro, 1, 2, 3 and Advanced sailing.
• Emphasis on fun and safety.
• Teaching Children the joys of sailing and moving up through
the ranks to racing.
• Parents are encouraged to help in any aspect of the day.
• CYCHI Volunteer Program helps to keep costs at a minimum.
The CYCHI is committed to nurture and advance the art of sailing, to this we are committed
to our Kids Discover Sailing Program at all levels.
All members of your family are encouraged to take part or assist with on water or on shore
organisation. This is a great family sport at a great family club.
